Eyes to the sky on Tuesday 15th

Post #1 by topkit » Mon Sep 14, 2015 9:16 pm

Tommorow at around mid day around 45 WW2 aircraft are taking off from Goodwood in West Sussex they will be flying over the South East passing several of the famous airfields where "The Few" flew from to defend our country 75 years ago, at least 3 groups will be flying over Kent with another group over Hampshire and West Sussex, so be sure to keep a look out from 12-1pm it will be a great site, Also there is a programme on Channel 4 tommorow evening about this special day and the Gallant few.

I was meant to travel to duxford on tuesday but the weather intervened unfortunately! I managed to get my warbird fix at the Duxford Battke of britain airshow on saturday which was one of the best days of my life! The best site of my life with out a doubt when 17 spitfires (well 15 and 2 seafires) took to the air in one big wing!

Hi,

:offtopic: Dad was a pilot in 100 Squadron, the first opperational night bombing squadron in the RFC and later in the RAF. Here is a pic. of a Handly Page O 400 he was flying in 1918.
I still have all his training and flying logs.
Sorry if it's off topic and for the poor quality, but the pic. is nearly 100 years old.

Wow Fred that is amazing, how fantastic to still have those items keep them safe for future generations to see, my father was in 613 squadron with Mosquitos and at the moment i am desperatly trying to find the group squadron photo of them all standing in front of one of their planes i am literally turning the place upside down in desperation.

I wish my family had history with the RAF......My great grandad was an ACK ACK Gunner on the airfields of Lincolnshire during world war two.
But other than that theres nothing!

Fred that is amazing picture considering its age!

Topkit,
Ive just bought an Airfix Mosquito as ive got a soft spot for the twin engine fighter bombers such as the mossie, blenheim and beuafighter.

Ill be posting a few of the 1700 photos i took of the Duxford airshow on saturday in a new topic so look out for that!

Joe
