I can recommend the Battle of Britain museum at Hawkinge!

A spitfire i dug out in a field near Sandwich back in the early eighties, is exhibited up there, well the engine block and other bits are there.... the engine was 25ft down.

I can't tell you how much I want to do a Battle of Britain dig! Don't think I'll ever get the chance unfortunately but one can dream!

That is very sobering! Some of the stories I've read and heard about how pilots returned and unfortunately died is simply quite horrifying!

I didn't realise just how tight the cockpits of spits are but I had the oppurtunity to sit in a replica Mark 9 a few weeks ago, it really hit home just how hard it would be to get out of one of the plane was on fire or severely damaged!

RIP to all that gave their lives!
Thank you for your sacrifice!

Joe war is horrifying I'm sure that the nearly 60 million people that died throughout the world in that war would not have wanted to die let alone die in the terrible circumstances that they found themselves in whoever they were.
