Two football clubs in Yorkshire who Gary Speed played for have said they are stunned by his death.
Gary Speed began his career at Leeds United and was part of the side that won the First Division title in 1992.
He later played for Sheffield United and went on to manage the side following the departure of Kevin Blackwell.
In early statements, both clubs expressed shock at the news that Speed, 42, had died unexpectedly.
The Football Association of Wales has told the BBC it appears the national manager for Wales killed himself.
'Sad loss'
Cheshire Police confirmed he was found dead at 07:08 GMT at his home in Huntington, Chester. They said there were no suspicious circumstances.
In a brief statement on the club's website, Sheffield United said: "Everybody at Sheffield United is extremely shocked and saddened to learn of the death of former player and manager Gary Speed.
"Thoughts are with Gary's family and friends at this distressing time."
Leeds United said the club was "stunned and saddened" to hear of his death.

A gentleman of the highest order.Every fan seemed to look up to him as a true professional.Whilst at my beloved Blades he played and managed before stepping up to be Wales manager and seemed to have turned them round.Rest in peace Gary.
