Gripes with my new VOLVO L350F

Post #1 by niner » Sun Oct 30, 2011 7:25 pm

After waiting 5 months for this model to arrive, and paying £90 for it I have some issues with it.

Looking closeley at it, I'm sure it was a friday afternoon model and I dont think its up to Motorart standards.

Have a look at the pics of some of the issues and tell me what you think. Im not sure whether I should send it back or not.

Excess glue and fingerprints on the hydraulic pipework.

I know that once you start finding faults you then start looking for them, but these were all issues I found as soon as I opened the box at home to have a good look. I know most of them can be rectified easily enough but really, it shouldnt come out of the box like that?

Give us your thoughts, I would be interested to hear your oppinions.

you really need to send the model back, after spending £90 you desrve a top notch model, looking at the pictures thats something you would find in the bargain bucket fo £25. you shouldnt have to spend your time and money trying to make a bad job look half decent.

thanks andy

I was just going to say , first off I would send email with pictures to their customer care department raising your complaints/concerns and you unhappyness with the model , making sure they know you are a collector with many of their fine models already in your pocession and your huge disapointment with this one. Wait for a reply before returning to them and only return to them if they ask you to as you dont want it to "go missing" in the post or in their returns department.

They might just send you a replacement alot of companies now days do not have a rework department the items just go in the bin as its cheaper to build another than try to repair/rebuild that one.

This was their reply-

that sort of attitude gets you a bad name very fast, it makes you think twice before giving them any more of your hard earned money

That is exceadingly poor , especially in this day an age , Id be trying to bring it to the attention of further up the organisation, either by email or telephone. As a matter of interested was it purchased through an agent or direct from them ?

Hi Andy,

I am in the process of drafting an email to them, I think there is a bit of a language barrier there, however that's no excuse!

I bought the model from my local hobby shop who inturn ordered it from the Uk distibutor for Motorart.

The model is now on its way back to the Uk distributor for exchange providing they have some in stock but to be fair its not really a distributor issue. All the issues with the model are from the manufacturing and Motorart need to take responsibilities for the quality control.

Im not happy with the response given, I only buy Motorart beacuse they do some nice VOLVO models.

A couple of thoughts.
Your remedy in law is with the person/business that sold it to you - obviously they didn't make it and unless they inspected it before handing it over they would be unaware of the problem but that's the law. Talk to the retailer first and let them take it further.
If something is bought with a credit card and the value is over £100 you also have remedy with the card company.
Hopefully your retailer and his supplier will find you a better example.
I have bought several models from Julian at AT & C and he is meticulous about inspecting what he sends out - a good company to deal with.
I don't know whether your model was made in China but I have heard that several companies have experienced quality problems with their Chinese suppliers of late. CCM in the States are running a year late with their dual and side-by-side D9s due to quality problems - they are said to have rejected the whole of the first batch!
