I picked up this WA900 second hand from my local Hobbyshop a couple of weeks back. It's a nice big piece so I can do plenty to it to bring it to life a little.

At the moment it's pretty lifeless. Need to get rid of those big chunky plastic rails and make some brass ones, I also have plans to do the same as the PC1100 I did and put some LED lights in there.
So far I have stripped it down and cleaned it up.

I have also cut out the slats on the rear grill. Plan to put a nice big cooling fan in there, all going well that should look sweet!

This is the cooling fan starting out it's life, took me ages to cut out this brass
Not the best job but I we all start somewhere!

Just needs a coat of paint now and stick it in.
Anyone know what colour dark bits are on the komatsu's? it's not quite black is it?

Re: My latest project. JOAL Komatsu WA900.
Im trying to take my time on this one but as always I want it finished!
So far I have removed the plastic handrails off the top and replaced them with brass ones, the Brass cooling fan is now in there. I have added some extra ligt clusters to the rear, just like the real thing and removed the plastic handrails each side of the counterweight and made brass ones.

Hi, I like what your doing with this model, look forward to seeing it finished.
I'm not sure of the name of the komatsu paint but i think its a very dark shade of blue

Cheers Chris.
This project has come to a bit of a full stop. I have a week off over half term so I will get moving with it again. After much deciding I am going to strip the Blackish or what ever colour it is parts and re-paint them black so it matches the painted black rails.

Re: My latest project. JOAL Komatsu WA900.
I have a WA800 to add to my komatsu workshop now. Need to get my a$$ in gear an do something with them
Some pics.
I've started by adding some black paint to the grills
And some red light clusters
The cab and walkway are blue, I want to strip that paint and re-do it black and then add some brass handrails.

Hi Ross,
The only detail I am struggling with at the mo is the routing for the hydraulic hoses. Looked online at loads of pics and cant make it out. If you could sneak a photo or 2 that would be brilliant

Hi Martin,
How did you do the grill holes on the side? Just looking on my WA800 and they are tiny so wouldn't fancy cutting them out!!!
Did you somehow get some black paint in the indents?
Thanks very much,
Dave

It's black paint.
I used a matt black water based paint from Citadel, can get it from the games workshop. I just dabbed a bit in each hole and then wiped it away with my finger. Takes 2 or 3 goes to build it up.
