Thought I should post some pics in this forum. So Ross, here are the promised pics of my shovel collection. All models are in 1:50 scale.
I will post the smallest shovel first, then go up in size ending with the largest last.
Volvo EC650
This is my smallest shovel. It is in the 65ton class. It is made by JOAL.

Liebherr R984
This is the first verision of the R984 excavator. It has an opperationg weight of around 100tons. The model is an old Conrad model.
It is a pretty big shovel...
The cabguard adds alot to this model in my opinion:
Not very high detail on this one either, but it is better than the Volvo:

Komatsu PC1100LC-6
Next shovel out is the PC1100LC-6 from Komatsu. It is has an opperating weight close to 110tons. The bucket has a capacity of 6.5-7m3. It is powered by a 611HP engine. The model is made by JOAL.

Demag H185
This is an old 180ton Demag shovel. It had a bucket capacity between 8 and 16m3 depending on what it was digging. A 1064HP Cummins V12 engine made this shovel move. The model is an old NZG model.
Now we are talking!
As for all old NZG models the detail level is low:

Liebherr R994B
This is my second largest shovel. It is a 300ton machine. It has a bucket capacity of 15-18m3. The shovel is powered by V12 Cummins diesel enginge with 1500HP. The model is made by NZG.
Now the shovels are getting BIG!
This is the detail level of NZGs newer models... compare this to the Demag pic above!

Bucyrys 495HF
This is my largest shovel, and largest model! It would be hard to find a larger model than this one.. it is huge!!! The shovel has an opperation weight of 1500tons and a bucket capacity of 110-120tons (havent found any other data about the capacity, but I would guess it has a bucket capacity of between 45>50m3). The model is made by TWH Collectibles and it is sold by NZG in Europe...

So what type of truck would I use when for this baby? Well a Liebherr T282B is a good choice. This 363ton truck is this shovel able to load in only four passes.
