Classic Construction Models has announced they will be making the Caterpillar 666 in 1/48th scale, in their diecast line, as I understand it!
At last!

Hi, looks good, but no doubt at a large cost. My personal opinion, Bruce's Black Rat models offer as good as detail at a fair price, but thats my opinion. Below photos of my 666, have not a shed big enough for full scale shame !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers John

Re: Great News For Scraper fans
Those models are fantastic, but I just can't afford one of them. At least the CCM models, being diecast, should manage to be affordable, although I bet they'll ask $300 for one. I'll find the money even if I have to sell blood! LOL!
It will be interesting to compare both models to each other once they come out.
I wonder if Black Rat has any plans to make either a bottom dump version of the 650/660, or continue the scraper trend with either a 630 or 632?
When I get these, I may have to make some special bays for my model Cat dealer to house them....although I guess if the 657G will fit, these can.

I think at present, production is being concentrated on the Vickers models, which are the dogs doo daas, just like the Euclid TC12. I've got a feeling the CCM scraper will not be cheap.

Re: Great News For Scraper fans
Bruce's scrapers can never be done justice in photographs, infact as i see more pics of models and then see them in the flesh most models look a lot better.
I have had the pleasure to see a very large collection of Bruce's work and his stuff is as good if not better than you think and hopefully he will have some more scrapers of a different style out soon.
I believe $300 - 400 will be about where the CCM 666 ends up and that is fair enough i reckon, they will have my money x 2!!!!

Re: Great News For Scraper fans
I didn't mean to imply anything negative about the quality of Bruce's models, quite the opposite! I've drooled plenty of any pics I've seen of those models, I just don't have that kind of budget!
I might have to grit my teeth a little, but if the CCM models come in the $300-400 range, I'll find a way to buy at least one!
I've been fascinated by the 666's ever since I first heard about them as a kid, I just count myself lucky that I got to see some in person.
Now, if I could just get to see one working in person....

If you can see your way clear to share those pics with us, I'd sure like to see them. Sounds great!
What series 631/637 are they?

Sorry, no pics - my viewing was of the final pre-production models in the metal.

As the news seems to be out the bag, yes Bruce's are superb and the new ones are just as good. Alan, they are D series and there are 6 variants of each. All in the correct colour yellow, the right C cat logo etc as you would expect from Bruce.
