Martyn when did they drop the red on buckets and wheels?

I have really no idea on that one Pete,but from what i can make out, the standard 3CX with standard front bucket, had red buckets, and red wheel rims, ones with 4in1 were all yellow

Martyn what materials do you use? It does look smart.
An aquaintance of mine had an early 3CX when it was about 8 years old. It had a Leyland engine, manual shuttle, manual engagement of 4wd (iirr), fixed dipper with a white cab, red wheels and 4in1 bucket.

You could be right Pete, i can only go on what i have seen in brochure's and stuff from that time, when the 3CX came out, i was playing with Case 580F's and then the 580G
To do the masters, i use plastic card of various thickness's, then just scale down from measurements and cut an glue ... the masters are then moulded ready for melted down metal alloy, the tyres are rubber, and the ram housings are plastic with metal pistons ..

Sorry if this is a stupid question Martyn, but is that the master we are looking at; do you paint the master?

On the subject of colours thee seems to have been some variations. All yellow cabs on some late 60s when white was around and yellow wheels on some late 3C111s. Or have I just seen paint jobs?

No Pete, that is the finished model .. the masters are all the component parts that go to make up the finished model... i belive the yellow wheels on the Mk3's, showed that it was the power train version...

and white cabs did not appear till 75 although JCB did do a limited edition Caribbean cab version on the 3Cmk2's after 72 i belive...these had tinted glass, white cab and a rubber matting inside the cab...

Nice one Martin that does look good, i think the early 3cx 1981 W reg had red buckets and wheels even if it did have a 6in 1 then in 1982 they seemed to have changed paint as in the shade of yellow used and also the buckets and wheels became Yellow too. So what's next then!!
