Volvo L220E disapointment

Post #1 by Hammer man » Fri May 01, 2009 10:51 pm

Got a Motorart Volvo L220E 1/50th at last for my birthday yesterday.Somewhat disapointed with it though.Side by side with my L150E,the only difference is the 220 is about 1mm taller to top off the cab,& the 220 has a V nose rock bucket,& the L220E markings.Apart from that, same length, width, wheel base, load heightetc.I know from driving them both in real life the 220 is a good 5-10 tons heavier,& larger all round.Have i missed something or are Motorart cost cutting???

If I'm not mistaken the L150E, 180E and 220E all share the same casting. The only difference being decals and buckets. It is a bit of a con from Motorarts's side but when you look into the costs involved in making 3 different models then I think they are justified in doing this. I personally would have rather have seen them produce a 120E, 220E and obviously the stunning 330E.

Not got ant of the new Volvos yet.The thing i find is when a new range comes out,the price jumps a fair bit.Although from what i`ve seen & read of the new Volvos, this is justified :)
I try to collect every thing i`ve driven, but now get any thing.I used to collect in 1/35th,but the cost got out of hand.I had all the JCB NZG`s,but sold them on Ebay for a tidy profit.
Now there all 1/50th,excavators,loading shovels & adt`s.The pride of my collection are my Poclain 90 & 160.

I used to collect 1/35th but now im a staunch 1/50th man. Mainly all the models made by JCB and Volvo...with some komatsu and cat mixed in for good measure. If you havent already got it i highly recomend the JCB 456 ZX's made by motorart. They may not be the best shovels in the world but i have to say that the models are top notch!

Well,i`m working back in Somerset at my favorite quarry & the L220D the have has gone to Volvo for some work. They have hired in our L220E with v nose rock bucket. It was parked behind the quarrys L150E last night. The only differences i could see was larger tyres on the 220,longer & more heavy duty lift arms, larger counter weight. They both have the same amount of steps to the cab.Our 220 is plated at 35600 kg,the 150 at 24400 kg`s.So maybe theres not that much(if any)difference in the basic size of the machines :? :?: :)
