Going back just over 25 years my dad worked in the local granite quarry as a driller/shotblaster and I remember going up there at weekends when he needed to move or maintain the rig.
It was a rig like this, Ingersol Rand.

I would love to get old of a scale model if possible. Does anyone know of any?
Be nice to set up a little diorama in memory of him.

Re: Drilling rig models?
Brilliant, thanks for that, just the thing.
Only prob is it's $950 and not diecast
I wonder if an email to Atlas Copco might come up trumps?

Re: Drilling rig models?
Sent an email to Buffalo Road Imports and they stopped making this model 2 years ago, they sold the last one 2 weeks ago. Typical!

Re: Drilling rig models?
Cheers for the link, I appreciate that.
As tempted as I am at the moment I think the model is pretty basic and lacking detail for the price

Re: Drilling rig models?
I Got one, really made up! It was on ebay recently and I won it. The seller was a driller by trade and the model was made for him about 30 years ago. The spooky thing was, the seller knew my dad, worked with him on a few jobs around the world including the Falkland Islands, what a small world!
I'm not sure of the scale and it's pretty well detailed, just needs a good clean and I will get some photos up.

Re: Drilling rig model. Now with pics
Well, here are some pics.
The rig is screwed to the plinth and I think I will leave it that way. The seller told me that it was built for him by a modelmaker oabout 30 years ago.
I have cleaned it up best I can with water and cotton buds, there are a few spots where the paint is missing but I'm not sure whether to re-paint it or leave it as it is.
Not sure of the scale, you can see it next to my 1:48 CCM D10 if anyone could give me a rough guesstimate that would be great.
