newly signed up, and i dont know what i have!

basically having a clearout, and weighing in a load of redundant stuff.
the old dumper ended up in the workshop, and i didnt have the heart to do it so thought i'd bung it on fleabay.
twas' then i realised i hadn't a clue as to what it was for the description!

if the pictures work right, they should be below. bear with me as its not me usual forum!

well, 37 views and no comments!
over at landyzone it would be half full of irrelevant drivel by now!

anyway, sent an email to winget ltd after a fair bit of googling, comparing pictures and discovering winget are still in business. (never even heard of winget!)

so, the reply that came back this morning-

Hello Neil,

What you have is an old Winget 2S Diesel Dumper, its not particularly rare but yours is possibly in
better condition than most we see. Unfortunately I can't date it for you but they where in service from the late 1960's
until the very late 1970's

Best Regards
Steve Hodge AAE LCGI I.Eng MIMechE MIMI MIET IntET(UK)
Joint Managing Director
Winget Limited

really impressed that these guys actually took the time to reply, although no details were held on the machine.
what i need to do now is decide if i'm gonna keep it and do a bit of work on it, or sell it on.

give me some inspiration for either!

i'll keep watchin'.
neil.

Neil, I did look at the pictures but as I really wasn't sure what you had I thought it better not to waffle on!

It's a Petter engine just like on my Thwaites Orion - I'd do it up as they are a bit of fun to have around the place and can also do useful work if the need arises.

Julian.

lol cheers john!
after searching for your pics, turns out there the ones i used originally to identify mine as a winget!
have you got the plate on the rocker box top on yours?
if you have, can you tell me what it says prior to the stamped numbers.
mines worn off, just leaving the numbering!
pic would be ace for comparison if you could.

will have a look over the weekend. if you want the chassis number there should be a manufacturers plate on the front LH chassis which should read 'made for muir-hill ltd by S & E strood, rochester kent. these were muir-hill before being took over by winget in 1967. mine was red too, build number 4112, apr 67. steve hodge was very helpful to me, even putting me onto a really ancient geezer who had records where mine was first sold to.
