Hi Chris,
You dont need to take out the injectors to set up the pumps.
I was going to try to explain how it's done but it's a bit involved so heres the page from the manual. You should be able to click on it to enlarge.
If you need info on how to spill time the pumps I posted it on here somewhere, if you cant find it give me a shout.
Hope this helps.

Fred,
I appreciated your post on balancing the pumps, but noticed the next page is setting the spill timing.
Is this the same as timing the injection of diesel,or how is that done please ?

Hi,
I put this on here before, but the link to that post doesn't seem to work so heres a scan of it.
You'll need to repeat the proceedure for each pump.
Hope this helps, Give me a shout if the explanation isn't clear.

Fred,
Thank you for posting the pump timeing, which I assume neads to be done for each pump on the PH2 engine,or does the one tappet adjust both pumps ?
This would appear to be the cause of my starting problem in cold weather,as the commpression will kick the flywheel back, but still not start the engine.
But once it has run for a couple of minutes and is only slightly warm ,it will start after several turns of the crank.

try checking if the little oil pipe is supplying oil to the rockers, because it may be overheating cos lack of oil.worth a try to see cos that pipe gets blocked and will cause the engine to conk.

The older 4000 does only have a single tipping ram (at least ours does)

I know this is old but if anyone comes across this - I had a similar problem and it was due to a blocked gauze filter inside the clear glass fuel strainer / water trap just downstream of the fuel tank. easy fix - just remove glass and clean the brass filter gauze. Mine was very dirty!!!
