Classic Dumper Identification

Post #1 by mickyd » Mon Sep 19, 2011 10:29 pm

Hi all,

I have a dumper that I purchased second hand in the early 80's. I used it for light construction work over the years and now I would like to restore it to bring it back to its original state (or close to it). The problem I have is that I do not know the make, model or the exact year of manufacture. Is there anyone out there that could identify it from the attached photos? What I hope to do is get a manual for the dumper which would then allow me to identify and order some parts.

The dumper is approximately 40 years old, it is articulated and is 4WD. The engine is a lister 3 cylinder diesel and the numbers that are on the engine are:

102SR3A24, HP21 - 45 201, RPM 2000

The gearbox is a Benford, number: 40M42-A-6797

Thanks,

Michael.

If gearbox has Benford on this may be the manfacturer , as Benford were a big dumper maker.

Michael - it looks to be a Benford TT50. I'm not sure what year it would be but the (hopefully) attached brochure scans are from 1975 if they are any help to you.

Hi all,

Thanks very much for your help, that's fantastic! From the files, it is a TT50.

The dumper is working. However, there are some small parts that I would like to replace. I would like to source and purchase a parts / repair manual and also the parts themselves.

Are any of you in this business, and if so can you get parts for this model?

Thanks again.

Michael
