I missed this question in Freds post with a Winget / G.F. (George Fowell) advert , here is another one from Muck Shifter magazine from Dec 56 .
I wonder if this was before Winget made their own dumpers ?

Yes Craig. I remember these GFs working on an extension to my school circa 1952.

Hi All I'm new to this site and was wondering if anyone can help
I'm in the process of sympathetically restoring a George Fowell 1/2 ton dumper with the makers plate.
Only thing missing is the handbrake lever
question is will anything else fit or does anyone know what it looks like
Kind regards Vince

Hi Vince and welcome  I am sure that somebody on here can point you in the right direction, I would have imagined that handbrake levers would have been standard items fitted to many types of vehicle so once you can identify the lever type you may be able to source one.

Hi Vince,
I don't think there is a hand brake lever as such.
The clutch lever which disengages the drive also engages the brake.
There should be a pawl and spring to hold the clutch lever in the disengaged position and the brake then remains on.

Many thanks
I've just had the piston pushed out of the barrel took around 12 tons of pressure the top 3 rings are ok but the bottom one I think is a oil scraper was stuck fast luckily the piston was at the bottom of the stroke and has no damage at all
