Liner Roughrider 1250

Hi all,

I have recently purchased an old Liner Roughrider dumper here in Sydney, Australia. I've stripped it down ready to remove any rust and repaint.

I'm trying to find out what type of differential it has so I can obtain some new seals. Does anyone recognise it?

Hi Andy,
I also meant to ask what engine is in yours. Ours is a SR2 Lister with anti clockwise rotation. I must ask a Land Rover guy if these diffs are from a Reggie.

Hi John, I think my engine is a Lister SR2 although haven't got around to finding any numbers on the engine yet. It seems to run pretty well, starts easy. I think it's anti clockwise rotation too.

Update:

Got the two new axle seals matched at my local bearing Shop. The pinion Seal was a little more tricky but I've found that a Jeep Cherokee shares the same Dana 44 axle. The measurements seem to be exactly the same as what's left of the old seal. I've ordered one off eBay.

Finally finished removing most of the old paint and what seemed like a ton of hardened grease and concrete from the chassis. Primed and painted with Caterpillar yellow.

Next I will be cleaning up all of the smaller parts, pedals, steering, levers etc. Rebuilding gearbox with new parts from the UK and painting the engine.

Fair play to you Andy that is one tidy restoration on the dumper and another piece of machinery given a new lease of life and will live on rather than face the old gas axe and end up in a tin of beans!!!

Hi Andy, Extremely nice work. Good to hear about the seals and that they are now sorted. Your bearing guy should have been able to cross reference the size but that doesn't matter now. The stud pattern on the wheels are 5 stud Land Rover pattern but can be many different makes but the stud diameter is what makes the difference between light truck and car.
