Hi . After years searching I finally bought a GF dumper . Needs lots of work . 2 questions. Any way to date it ? Any idea what steering wheel might have been used in it as it’s half missing ! Thanks in advance.

Nice one David good luck with it; can't help you with the dating of it perhaps Fred can? The steering wheel looks like it's probably rotted away? Let us know how you get on with it.

Looks like an old Brooklands Steering Wheel (MG TA/TB/TC/TD/TF/MGA and other cars...).
Very expensive...

Belt drive if I remember correctly, if you search on here you'll find posts on George fowell, link to manual for one below, good luck keep us up to date with progress

Thanks for that . I took the engine off it at the weekend. It was made in 1950 so I’m guessing that’s the year of the dumper as well. It’s a straightforward restoration requiring tyres , a seat and a steering wheel . Unfortunately it won’t be coming into the workshop until my current project gets finished . It’s a 1939 Wallis and Steevens roller . It’s due to be finished by May of next year .

I've been thinking about your steering wheel problem. Out here in Australia a lot of early UK built cars had a similar steering wheel to look at. As suggested early MG like a TD/C but other fell into the same list. Prefect was one I know that had that spoked wheel and some early Austins did also.It would be a good treasure hunt in some wrecking yards or find a vintage car restoration site close to you and ask there for a possible source. Sometimes people sit on things for years and say 'one day I wil ...' then all of a sudden they see someone who can use it and offer it on.
