Another one to identify

Post #1 by cobbadog » Tue Aug 21, 2018 8:02 am

Hi guys,
Last weekend we took Humpty Dumpy to a Rally and found that the place has a dumpy all of it's own. It runs a 2 cylinder Petter engine rated at 18hp @ 2000 rpm. It is all hydraulic and articulated but has had a hard life. I will post some pics of it and hopefully an age can be sourced from the engine number which is PH2-67055.

I sent an email to Winget and got a reply that says it is an offset driving position Four/45 Dumper. He kindly provided a link to the Winget site and the manuals as well. So yet another one and possibly a second one of the same model may well come back to life to join this one in restoring this site.
Thank you for the replies once again.

I think I have the brochure somewhere I will dig it out and post it on here next week after I have been to the Isle of Man for Classic TT

Winget seemed to be very strong in export markets ( maybe still are ???) as they turn up all over .

Funnily enough the off set seat made me doubt Winget. It must be quite an early 4wd artic.

Hope you enjoy the TT as much as possible. I have only had the pleasure to watch on TV usually months after the race if at all. Does Joey Dunlop still race?
Hopefully you can find a brochure and then I can pass it onto the owners who will be tickled pink. The Dumpy has been sited by Winget and it was them who suggested it was a 4B-2000 model. I still cannot get an idea of year model. I was given a link to Lister/Petter engines details but they only have a brief specification sheet on the engine and the years that the PH model was made and that was 1960 - 1996 or there abouts. As there was no serial numbers from beginning to end or how many were made each year I am still stuck on an age issue but having a model is just great.
Thanks again for all the replies and help offered.
Cheers John.

Sadly Joey Dunlop died racing in 2000 , his brother and nephew also died in racing accidents .

Sorry Craig, I was totally unaware of that.
Hopefully you enjoyed the races. Did they have good crowds? IT is a fantastic race to watch on the TV when we get it but because there is no a lot of interest in it here it is a rare day you see any of it. Have seen the after marks of would be boy racers doing laps in the rural parts of the track and coming unstuck or end up on the wrong side of the road and almost having a head on with something else.
Hopefully when you have time you might be able to find a brochure for the Winget.

Hi John , it is the Classic TT / Manx GP last week and this week and the 'real' TT is in June . All are very very popular and busy . The island at the Classic TT is one enormous living bike museum as there are literally thousands of old bikes being ridden around. :)
I will try to dig out brochure from loft in next few days I'm not sure if its exact same model but certainly similar , scanner is knackered so I will have to photo it.
