Barford SD 06

Post #1 by Siksplit01 » Mon May 14, 2018 8:33 am

Firstly thanks for adding me to the site.

I’ve had the above dumper a couple of months and put it through its paces.
In the process I’ve managed to snap the brass collar of the pivot ball on the change lever. As such the gear lever now moves from side to when attempting to change gear rather than backwards and forward.

I’ve found the parts manual online and the part number for the change lever and bolt is TF15/16.

The issue I’m having is find a supplier for the part. Can anyone recommend one. I’ve tried PES.

As a secondary question, it’s clear the collar was keeping the gear lever in place. If I was to have this brazed back to the pivot would it be strong enough? I have no experience with brazing.

Many thanks
Matt

Hi Matt and welcome to the site  sorry I can't help you with the parts perhaps somebody else could? Although I cannot picture the brass collar in my mind I cannot see why brazing it would not get you out of trouble, mind it may be easier if the collar is not a complex item to get a local engineering shop to knock you one up.

Thanks Jeremy. I may have to go down that route.

Is there any clue as to the make of the gearbox? Many dumper manufactures used components sourced from specialist manufacturers and what you are looking might be shared with other makes. Sometimes there is an ID plate on the top plate.

Perhaps these can help?
