If you don't know Fred who will! I wonder if it was fitted with a BMC heavy van/light truck clutch and gearbox as well. The final drive might have made the reductions?

A while back bought a 1979 Benford 'Construction Equipment Catalogue' off Fleabay, unusually this is in the form of a rather nice large hardback book .
Glanced at it tonight when tidying bookshelves and lo and behold on page 7 is this very machine .
It is a Benford TS60 looking antiquated even back then. 3 ton payload , 51bhp Leyland 120 engine .

Trying to cull some transport books but you start reading them and think this is interesting , then when you decide you can part there is the ebay/ charity shop / autojumble dilema

Craig; yes I know what you mean just having had a massive book cull myself with over 70 books going to the local charity shop.

But we are probably the best at identifying these old dumpers , someone's got to do it !

The mighty Benford TS60 -
With a two range gearbox I wonder if it's based on reversed Leyland tractor components, a real hark to the past .
Incidentally the name on the dumper in original pic ROOFF are a firm of East London builders who still trade see web.
I thought the red tick on the grille may be something to do with the NHBC Right First Time campaign , but it looks as though there is a tick on the grille in the brochure ?

Well done Craig. That could be one of the rarest 'modern' machines around. I can't think they would have made many as pivot steer 4wd would have eclipsed. Bi driving wheels would have travelled well I reckon. It is either a tractor gear box or a small 3 fwd speed and transfer. There could be reduction in the drive axle?
