Hi all and any one else out there.
I have a small Benford Dumper circa 1950's and I would like to find out more about it ??
The Vin type number is LD 26033. There is another Plate on the Chassis [ 3 M ] what dose this mean ?
The Engine has 2 plates riveted on, The first is the Engine Plate stating Engine Type AVA1 and Year 1950. Engine Number unreadable.
The second says Engine rebuilt 1964 with Std Bearings and +40 bore.
Is this a replacement engine or the original rebuilt ??
I am also trying to get a replacement Clutch Slip Belt.
And can any one tell me the Weight of the Dumper so I know what Trailer & Tow Vehicle if I have to move it ?
Graham Mid-West Wales.

Hi Graham and welcome to CMN  from what you have said about your dumper engine it has been rebuilt and has standard crankshaft bearings fitted but an 0.040" oversize piston has been fitted as it has had a re-bore on the engine cylinder; I think the engine is a Petter but other members will be able to give you more details on it.
Have you looked at the specifications that member 'Johnson dumpers' has posted? You may find some information there?

Well as this is proving difficult is there any one out there with a 1950's Benford Dumper.
Is there a Register or Group for these little machines.
Is there a Link to a site for these little machines.
Would you like to start a Register or Group for these little machines.
All it would require is the Serial Number, The Year if known and a Picture.
I have had my little Benford for 3 Years or so but not done a lot with it as it requires a new Clutch Slip Belt and Proper Dumper Tyres.
4x4 Tyres are useless as all they do is spin.

'Ps' Sorry Jeremy, Had a look at "Johnson Dumpers" But they are all Big & Shiny not Rust & Green Stuff.
You know what I mean.

I have made some progress, There is a similar Dumper on you tube, Only this one is Dark Green ( Possibly Hammerite ) with Red Wheels but it has the same Slip Belt Clutch.
Having had a dig at the Paint, The first coat appears to be Dark Green.
I Did want brake linings but replacements are nonexistent so the next best thing was to adapt and modify.
In my life time parts store I found a pair of shoes with riveted linings that were twice as wide but with the same curve so these were cut in half along the center line and the shoes drilled to take the rivets.
I have found a manufacture for replacement Slip Belts priced in the order of £60+ so one is on order.
Still want to know the weight, But then I guess around Half a ton to 15 cwt.
