What engine on Thwaites 4000?

Post #1 by RobertSWE » Wed Jul 22, 2015 10:13 am

Hi, I just bought an old Thwaites 4000 with swiwel tip and all wheel drive. I guess it's from the late 80-ties or early 90-ties. How ever - I cannot figure out the engine. It's a 3-cyl but I can't see any markings on it. The oil and fuel filters are from Perkins but that doesn't mean anything - right? I want to give my dumper a service and need the engine specifications. Does any one have any idea what engine it might be? I'm from Sweden and Thwaties dumers are quite rare here so there are not to many people to ask.

The styling looks like a late 80s early 90s by the engine lid and small dash. We had a 7000 with a Deutz in a very similar style and a very helpful man at Thwaites guesstimated the age and sorted part numbers to go local agent. Looks a tidy machine. Does the small Perkins engine look like that?
