Great Dorset Steam Fair 2014

Post #1 by Ian Fletcher1970 » Wed Aug 27, 2014 5:37 pm

I attended this event today. VERY muddy conditions underfoot. If you are planning on visiting then wellington boots are a must. Will get another day in there before Saturday. Star of the show is undoubtedly the 1972 D9G of S.E. Davis.

Great pictures there thanks for posting, it looks like there is a great selection of plant there this year, hopefully Classic Machinery will cover it well. There is something about a D9 that makes me want one for pushing our muck heap up once a week then the rest of the week i could repair all of the fences and gateways that i took out with it lol! :D

Great pics there Ian :claphands: the Allelys mk11 Atki was on display at the Worcester Tractor gathering at S.E. Davis earlier this year it is powered by a Cummins NH220.
Sorry I won't be able to catch up with you there this year I might just make the Saturday but that is weather dependent.

The D8H 22A is Colin Pardoe's (J5 M5) I rebuilt the engine and clutch on it about 2 years ago, sadly its not been out on sites much as the work thing for this tractor has been a bit slow, the D8 was owned by a contractor from Wales I am told that it was his first big CAT the Co' ran, there was about 1'500 22A's built with around near 6'000 68A's built with the power shift transmission.

Hi Tc - I recall seeing that and another D8H at the Great Dorset 2 or 3 years ago.

Cheers Ian  still can't make my mind up if I am going this year; had a few set backs this week so it will be a last minute decision if I do go.
