Cat Backhoes for MOD

Post #1 by SRB » Wed Dec 02, 2009 12:52 pm

Couple of pics of some Slightly modified backhoes going out to the MOD.

They are 434E models armoured to the hilt and fitted with solid Cushion tyres,,,,

Hey Jack,

Afraid not as i dont work there any more.

There was a 924H with a bucket full of pressi's and santa at the wheel and a Demo spec 345D with the fairy lights up the arm.

The MOD has 14 I think

I think the MOD bought them because the BAE built (with CAT components) 'Terrier combat engineer vehicle' still isn't ready for service:

The HMEE's were bought by us for a specific role, the Cat is to cover the general protected plant requirement. The solid tyres are a nightmare and have now all been replaced by run flats, the solids were breaking the blokes, we had to keep swapping operators. The HMEE are a lot better and preferred by all.
