Quite why they had to smash the undamaged lockers open to get the gear out i was never sure. Be a lot easier once we righted it really

Nothing to do with Plant but might be of interest.

It knocked the front axle out on impact

Interesting to note how basic that appliance looks in comparison with current versions. No strobe lighting, the paint scheme, even the look of it. On a 'X' plate so im thinking 1981 registration, so much has changed in 18 years.
My local historical transport society have a 1978 'T' Bedford TK appliance that was actually based at the town's fire station from new. I remember it from a school visit, manual gearbox, the firemen said they had had it 'off the clock' on a fire call! Current appliance is a Scania, certainly a smart looking piece of kit.

Interesting pics , always thought buying TKs for fire service was a bit cheapskate , my local authority bought Dennis , when we had a UK truck industry . They now have a few Dennis Sabres but fleet mainly Scania.
Not all those who wander are lost.

What strikes me is that renault didnt do a half bad job of surviving the impact without killing its occupants did it?
Considering it hit a fire engine hard enough to tear the front wheel off the engine, the occupant space is still fairly intact, windscreens not broken etc.
