Low loader slip!!

Post #1 by Nick Drew » Mon Jun 18, 2007 10:06 pm

This Fiat-Hitachi EX355 was delivered to our site last week, it had some bad Hydraulic oil & diesel leaks which had made the low loader bed very wet, as the driver tracked forward the machine slipped over the side!! This incident could of been a lot worse!!

Yes Ross,

This 2002 model Fiat-Hitachi EX355 had just had its stickers removed ready for sale and this hire came in, so out she went !!

Hydrex do have some excellent equipment, I have worked for them in the past out of their London depot and in Cornwall both on Construction and Railway.
They have massive financial backing!!

not a very good excuse! the absence of the rear outrigger boards greatly enhanced the chances of this incident occuring in the first place, probably a narrowish trailer as well, with no side shift on the ramps.the tractor unit was probably on its limit with this digger right up the front of the trailer anyway, just my humble observations.

Hi Jeff, there was a deal of somekind between both Fiat and Hitachi in Europe where excavators were manufactured and named thus, I'm not too sure of the "ins & outs" of this contract but I believe that ceased a few years ago now when Hitachi launched the Zaxis range of machines.
I'm sure someone on here will know the full details.

was working on side of A80 early saturday morning,4 axle DAF 95 with 4 axle trailer came to pick up 35t Komatsu, could see they were going to sideload so me and mate stopped to watch, suprise suprise plant firm's driver got machine onto trailer bed then dropped nearside track off, digger landed with right clatter up,nearly dropped other side track off when trying to get it back on,which would have been interesting as it would have gone into live traffic lane, surely easier to drop trailer neck, there was space, easier on man and machine, though not as entertaining for us!!!!!
