Snap !!

Post #1 by Nick Drew » Wed Jul 02, 2008 10:48 pm

This Cat 311C ended up with a snapped bucket ram rod today on our site.

This 2006 machine is on hire from Hewdens and is being used by some guys from a company called Piletec who are down from Barnsley and are doing the soil nailing on our job.

Don't know what caused this failure :dizzy:

Nick ;)

To me it looks like that weld between the rod and the rod end are very thin.

I would agree with Robban looks like a manufacturing mishap, lucky nobody was hurt. Wonder who gets to pick up the bill for that one?

Nice pics Nick

At a guess, poor weld then a bit of prying and leavering with the bucket (fitted the wrong way around) won't have helped!

bucket wrong way round 100% its usually the hitch to go first? we have had lots of problems due to this. miller bug hitches are or used to be prone to it. I'd like to see them get the bucket off and deny all knowledge as most do lol :D
