Right now there's earthquake rescue teams digging through the rubble of people's houses. Someone's getting a shoeing for that...

It looked like the back crane was slewing faster than the other crane, and took on more weight.
What a mess and sad for anyone involved.

Not sure how true it is but my friend heard from one of the workers that one of the crane operators had his radio on the wrong channel...

If you listen to the sound on the video then look at the trees and the dust cloud, there would appear to be a reasonable left-to-right wind. Could a wind acting on an area that big start to roate a machine against it's will?
Also, there is some drone footage. Rf interference with the radios?

If you look, both cranes are on different Barges, the rearmost barge appears to list as the lift starts, that looks like the most likely reason for the crane to collapse as the centre of gravity shifts.

Not a clever idea lifting heavy things via cranes on floating barges

Agreed Jeremy! My friend was saying that the Dutch love lifting from barges and are 'usually' pretty good at it!

Looks like a bad idea to me lifting with unfixed cranes from free floating barges.
Mate was a ships bosun and he said heavy lifts from ships were always difficult because of the ships free movement and he was using fixed derricks which were part of the ship.
