i hope you would be interested in this one, ruston bucyrus steam shovel,in working condition.it was sent to australia via suez canal,it was assembled and worked on the canal for a year, dissmantled again, carried on to geelong, near melbourne and worked there until late 60"s.it sat unused and rusting until 2000-02 approx and was aquired by the lake goldsmith preservation society and two years ago thay had it up and running again

Ruston Steam Navy in action at Knowl Hill rally a few years ago. Fantastic to watch, looked really hard work to control.

Gentleman who owned it has since sold it on. Believe its now in trust in the Norwich?? area.

Hi Dave, that's an impressive piece of kit, do you know what it was mining at Geelong ?
I'm just curious because I've been to Geelong many years ago.

hi john

No. 4 Face Shovel was built by Ruston Hornsby of Lincoln, England and tops the scales at 90 tons. The Australian Portland Cement Company Limited, who donated the No. 4 Face Shovel to the club, imported the unit in 1923 to work in their Fyansford (Geelong) Quarry and worked there until 1958.
