Hi,
Unless anyone knows different I'd say this is a 22 RB.
It's very similar in appearance to the 19 but I had a fair bit to do with both and I never saw a long cranked boom like that on a 19 RB backactor of this age. The 19RB of the time was usualy fitted with a straight boom which was shorter and could also be used as a skimmer boom.
I think the long window in front of the cab door is a moddification I've never seen one before.
Fred

It looks like it has the Continental cab with sloped sides on the roof for rail transport, allowing travel through tunnels. I'd imagine it would be 1950's at the latest.

Hi,
Yes,it is indeed the Contonental Cab.
I worked on these and the earlier air start models in the late 50s /early 60s and still have the original parts book for machine No. 18700, but I have nothing to date them.
I beleive the Continental Cab was introduced on 19RBs in 1937 and continued into the late 50s,
I have an idea that production of the 22RB version was post war Anyone know more

Hi,
There certainly was a 30 RB.
It replaced the 33RB in the range as a 1.25 Cu. Yd. excavator. Depending on the spec. the opperating weight was about 8 to 10 tons heavier than the 22, as a crane they could lift up to 30 tons.
