Re: JCB 812 NLC
Great Shots Richard,
Would like to come over and take some shots of that old machine myself....Can we arrange something???
I operated a JCB 805B turbo from new 1984/5 (sadly no pics ) They were not the best machines around but by no means the worst.
The "Powerslide" was a handy feature when working around houses, but how they got to call it a powerslide I dont know, it basically worked like the hydraclamp on a JCB 3C, to operate it you used to dig the bucket in the ground release the clamp by means of a lever in the cab and then push or pull the dipper in or out to obtain the required geometry
Ross, the only other company that I know tried anything similar was Poclain, I will try to dig out some photos.
The 805Bs used to suffer from turbo problems, and on the one I had it used to like stripping the seal pack from the end of the dipper ram This happened to me about 5 times!! She went up in smoke in the end in the engine bay!!
In my opinion JCB never made a good 360 until they joined forces with Sumitomo

Re: JCB 812 NLC
Nick,
Unfortunately I am not at home at this moment in time....I can tell you where the machine is[was], the guy who owns it runs a lot of mini-excavators now and it seems to be the core of his business. Ironically in his early days he ran a JCB 5C then bought a new 805B in 79? then upgraded to this one which seems to be on a an H plate.

Power Slide boom
How do they perform and how reliable are they
Also: what other machines came with this set up
Ross
Here is a photo of a Poclain 60 which is owned by Peter Happel in Germany which clearly shows there version of JCBs "Powerslide" arrangement, I think this Poclain version was probably better as it worked with a hydraulic ram.
Nick.

This machine that I found not far from where I live is not an 812 but the slightly larger 814 which were around 14/15 tons the guy who owns it was trying to sell it to me
