If memory serves me correctly, there was also a hydraulic face shovel version of the Mustang 120. Never seen pictures of one of these machines, only know they exist through finding a spec sheet for it on eBay.

I'd imagine it being useful as a stockpile handling machine, or perhaps as a coal shovel?

Gavin,

The Forestry Comission had a number of these Mustang shovels, they replaced Priestman rope face shovels on roadbuilding.

They tended to bend the bucket ram for some reason! :dizzy:

Interesting information, thanks for that Dave!

Sanderson's involvement with Priestman is interesting, although also sad how this company too died out. I've seen a few Sanderson RTFL's over the last few years, including an SB55TC on the Isle of Wight at Ryde which I hope to see again later this year!

Gavin, You seem to be very keen on the Isle of Wight ......Or as us Southampton residents used to call it "The Pile of Shite" !!

Must say though they do seem to have some rare old bits of plant over there!!

Sorry to be off topic

They do indeed have some interesting stuff on the Isle of Wight!

I may end up making several more trips over there, it'd be nice to fulfill a dream of doing some aerial photography as well which is actually catered for at Sandown airport!

Getting back to Priestman, just how heavy did the Mustang range of machines get?

Is the face shovel mounted on a Mustang 120 I wonder?

There is also a Priestman "Bogmaster" which is based on the 108S machine.
