I first thought that it was to give more angle on the shaft just like the linkage to the bucket.
But the shaft linkage has the same pivot point as the shaft itself (as far as I can see) so it will not give any more angle.
What´s the purpose of this linkage?

Hi Robban,

Yes I kind of wondered what that was for myself? seems a bit pointless really :dizzy:

I hope someone can come up with an answer about this :?:

Top Link---it is so you can add or subtract the top link to give longer out-reach and shorter tuck-under or vice-versa. Hope that makes sense for you.

Early excavator. That machine working in the clay pit could well be the first of the "WOLF" models. 4 cyl. Dorman--hand start--maybe a 2cyl. Bolinder. and rigged with a luffing shovel. About 5/8 cu. yd.They were very hard to operate, the boom, bucket and dipper were very light which made it very fast--once you got the hang of it. A crowd shovel was a lot heavier.
Nick, I have been searching for years now for info and or pics of a "priestman" single chain reeve percussion grab. Do you have any idea where I may look???? regards rayman
