Yes Steve that is correct Yumbo is the correct identity of that machine, I have read up on em but without refering back to the book I can't tell you too much about em off the top of me head.

Re: Yumbo
Another super find Steve
Yumbo was one of the pioneers of the all-hydraulic excavator, and became part of International Harvester, hence Saville selling them.

Re: Yumbo
Priestmans imported Yumbo model Y35 and Y45 (12 and 16 cubic feet machines) tracked excavators in approx 1963 and marketed them before making the mustang 90 ( rubber duck) in 1966 then the mustang 120 in 1968 . So Yumbo quite afew years ahead when ,I think cat didnt start till mid 1970s

Hello Bill
I thought I knew all about Priestmans but I did'nt know they imported Yumbo's.
I've done a bit of research and found leaflets on the Y35 and Y45 you mentioned. These leaflets are from the 1950's so they were more than just a few years ahead of the game.
I've attatched the scans together with a few later photos up to the International take over.
Fred
