Above link shows Geoff Lewiss great footage of machines at work.
The Cat loading shovels are loading up coal for Uskmouth powerstation. Each coal wagon holds 21 tonne of coal and there are 30 wagons per train. It takes a couple of hours to load each train but only 20 minutes to unload it. The waggon has three bottom doors that are opened automatically at the powerstation. This coal is imported into Newport docks from Eastern Europe. At least the open cast coal industry in South Wales is thriving once more.See Ffron-y Ffran item from SRB.
