Attached are scanned articles and adverts from Construction Plant & Equipment magazine which many of you will remember; and a few classic British machine spec sheets, including the Priestman 220, another machine that I spent quite a lot of time around due to a local company called Squire W. Swift running them in addition to 120 and 160 models.
Wish I’d taken a lot more photographs back in the early eighties but film and processing took a reasonably large chunk out of my paper round earnings so tended to be a little conservative. Nevertheless, here are a number of photographs from the early years and includes the first taken in 1979/80 of a JCB 807 complete with long arm, 08 counterweight and HD undercarriage; I knew the operator and spent a lot of time with it on house building, road reconstruction and even the demolition of air raid shelters with a ball and chain hanging off the arm.
Other photographs include various machines from the early to late 80s; Akerman EC and Cat 200-Series; working shot of the Demag H485 to accompany the CP&E article (will post more Demag another time) and a few of my favourite O&K photographs.
Will have to upload in stages so please bear with me and apologies for some of the scanning quality/order.
Rob.
