Good stuff,The 1986 Don Elgie article was interesting ,charting the demise of tracked loaders in a way ,he had 12 of 'em but was only getting 40% utilisation so was replacing with 360deg. excavators.
Not all those who wander are lost.

I think I have virtually every issue of C,P & E, from November 1987 to when it ceased publication. Never had heart to part with them, rather glad I didnt actually. Really must get a scanner when finances permit, got plenty of prints i'd like to share.
Thanks for all that Rob, the spec sheets especially were fascinating reading. I wonder how many would be prepared to do a shift in an 806 now! I always likened driving the 805B to using a rowing machine!

Cheers All. Have to admit that half way through scanning I did wonder if it was worth it.
Nick, I'm certainly looking forward to your CP&E contribution.
Thanks Paul.
I think that the book writing days are probably over. I obviously didn’t expect it to sell like Harry Potter, however, it certainly hasn’t sold in numbers that the publisher hoped/expected – or so they tell me.
I literally woke-up one morning and decided to write it due to having taken so many photographs that rarely anyone looked at other than me – less than 6 months later I’d finished it. In retrospect I should have written the book a little better and taken more time. I really would like the chance to slightly re-work and then update with additional models, but that is unlikely to happen, although I’ll keep taking pictures just in case!
I naturally look at machines from the customer’s point of view, but having worked for dealer and now also manufacturer, if I were to write another I’d probably approach it slightly differently.
Just a thought but perhaps a few of us from this site could write a book? All the collective experience and photographs that we have to hand on all types of earthmoving machines could be used to produce something quite unique! The movie would soon follow.
Rob.

What book?
Link?
Well, why not do a collaboration in writing a book. I think that would be an EXCELLENT idea!
How a bout this: people wanting to write a book together get a "restricted" space here on CMN (forum/group).
Then every month the participants "have to" post the progress and maybe some teasers from the present status?!
Publish the book as an ebook or PDF-file. There are several posibilities which I can check.

Re: CP&E articles, Spec Sheets and Old Photographs (Part 1)
Im hoping to get back into employment ASAP, soon as I have an income again a scanner will have to be on my shopping list! Meanwhile, a photo of a photo, so apologies for the quality.
