Smashing shots Jack you don't see many O&K MH4 machines around, I think I posted a shot of one of A.P.Webbs Liebherr ducks being used on the SVR somewhere on here.

That MH4 above is mentioned (but not seen) in Part Two of CP&M's feature on A.P. Webb (May 2009 issue), its A.P. Webbs first road rail excavator and was built in 1972.

Here's a latter O&K MH4S rubber duck railer thats also on a preserved railway. Does anybody know why there is a spare seat in the back of the cab? The only thing I can think of is its because if the machine has to be moved along the rails over a distance perhaps you need a qualified rail driver so the operator has to "sit tight" while the machines driven to the part of the railway where its required?
I'm sure Nick will know as he's been on railers before?

Every machine that goes online has a person assigned to it called a PICOM ( Person In Charge Of Machine) and the double cabs enable him to travel with the machine to the jobsite location the machine is still driven along the track by the regular operator

Nick :D

PS.. The title of the person may have changed by now as it is now sometime since I did rail work :? but that is what it was when I was operating road railers.
