Hello everyone, newbee here. I just want to thank you all for the great pictures of the Poclain excavators. They are bringing tears to my eyes. I drove some of these models in the Steel works. My first Poclain was a TY45, it was fitted with a clamshell grab and at other times an orange peeler. It had one rear wheel which was nearly triangular, and as I drove it around the Ravenscraig site I would nearly have sea sickness. I remember it took me a wee while to get the hang of the gear stick being on my right hand side. I also drove an LY80, an LC80 and 75 and 90 tracked models. We also had a TY45 road railer for railway work.

Hi Steve and welcome I'm pretty sure I saw a pic of a TY45 with an orange peal grab in this months CP&M magazine, there were a few such machines used in local scrap yards in the Midlands during the seventies, and also the TYS.
