Bigger version ! Whitby Komatsu PC240-8 new 2006,The previous 15 year old machine's boom just snapped in half and went to the bottom of the harbour . Salt water corrosion I guess.
The hopper barge is interesting because the entire vessel splits in half to drop the spoil. The wheel house is mounted on wheels one side so it can span the gap.

The Whitby based dredger Sandsend photographed in September 2019, with its newer Hitachi ZX350-5 in long reach configuration in place of the previous Komatsu PC240-8.
