Volvo & Samsung excavators

Post #1 by Nick Drew » Thu Sep 06, 2007 10:52 pm

Here is a new thread where we can share photos and experiences of Volvo and Samsung excavators.

I myself am a big fan of the current range of Volvo range and indeed enjoyed operating Samsung excavators for New Milton Hampshire based Gracelands civil engineering.
The Samsung machines were very fast but in my opinion were not really built to last, this seems to be something that has been addressed since Volvo took over the company.

I would be very interested to read and see any other members material.

Nick.

Here are some shots of the Volvo EC140 that I was operating for Gracelands Civil Engineering, they were big Samsung customers and of course moved on to Volvo after the takeover.

I recall that a Gracelands owned EC140 featured in Volvo press adverts for their excavator range.

Yes IBH I remember those adverts, they also featured in Volvo calenders as well.

Great company Gracelands if I was still living in the Hampshire area I am sure I would still be working for them or on hire to them

My local sales rep and new member here Richard Shelbourne is trying to sort out a deal for me for a EC135, I have been trying to do some research about this new model but it is not even listed on the Volvo website !!
Does anyone have any info or photos of this model ?? I am sure I saw it at SED last year but I never took any photos of it

Volvo exhibited the ECR 145C and ECR 215C models on their stand at Bauma 2007.

Hi All,

Spotted this Volvo EC210C excavator today in the Dorset town of Dorchester on my way back from picking up a new van in Southampton.

They look a nice machine? Does anyone know why all the major excavator players take so long to bring out the new models in the 13-14 ton bracket :dizzy: They all seem to do it!!

Here is an Interpretation from German to English:

Two halls further, in C4 as well as on the adjoining open area Volvo <http://www.volvo.com/constructionequipment/europe/de-de> presented itself, in the end. A lot of novelties with to Munich had brought the Swedes: For example, the bicycle loaders of the fa series and the short rear excavators ECR145C L and ECR215C L with 14 t or 21 t of application weight. Of course other devices{appliances} of the most different dimensions were also shown like the EC360C L with demolition equipment and the Volvo biggest excavator, the EC700B L with Longfront equipment and the forest machine FC2121C.

From what ive read it has much do with market demand for different weights of excavators globally, the 20-30 tonne market accounts for the biggest proportion of excavators sold.
Because the demand for these machines is higher than 12-14 tonne ones, the manufacturers tend to introduce 20-30 tonne models first to edge ahead in the market place.
When JCB upgraded its JS range to Auto generation they started with the 20-30 tonne machines first, as has Case more recently with their new CX B series, introducing the CX210/240B models first.

As we heard it the main reason was the stage 3 combustion regulations that forced out a updated range of engines and therefore the bigger models first since the 14 tons and belove isn´t forced to move to stage3 yet. But they´re are coming!
