Re: Hymac Excavators
While on the subject of Hymac; can you guys tell me which models were produced from the factory as front shovels/face shovels? I would also be very interested in viewing any photos you may have.
I have to ask this question; do any of you have extra brochures and catalogs containing photos of these machines?
All the best,
John

Re: Hymac Excavators
Hi John & Nick,
Well I know that Hymac offered a face shovel configuration on the following models; 580, 580B, 580BT, 580C, 610, 610C, 880, 880C, 890, 1080 and 1290. I have no reason to believe that they did not offer this on the 590 and 590C either.
Im sure that JCB also offered likewise with their tracked excavators I do have quite a few pics and wish I had more time to post them.
Im posting an old pic from Hymac literature as you will see its strange to see a wheeled machine equiped as a face shovel
Regards, Jeremy

Re: Hymac Excavators
I can tell you an amusing thing that happened when I worked in Devon in the early 1980s.
We were restoring a 580c for a customer. The machine needed a re wire,we had an auto spark.come in to do the job.He done a great job,but when he started the machine he thought the dipper peddle was the throttle. The dipper came in and lifted the machine and put the top of the boom through the ceiling which was under the bosses office!!
Another time I was driving a 880 wheeled Hymac with a grab.I was moving digger buckets in the yard on the end of a chain. It was going great till I moved a V ditching bucket,as I slewed the machine the chain came loose and a very large V bucket ended up in the old boy who lived next to the yard, veg. patch.
Happy days
