Ford 555C Transmission Issue

Post #1 by bluespecial2022 » Wed Mar 23, 2022 10:07 pm

I have a 1992 Ford 555 C backhoe that I am having a problem with. The power reversing transmission is always stuck in forward travel, no matter where I move the shuttle shifter. The electric buttons on the loader lever and main 4 speed transmission do not stop the pressure to move forward. Does anyone have any ideas on how to help me fix this?

It sounds like an auto electrician job. Some how you have continuous power to the forward solenoid. I don't know the machine at all but generally this sort of transmission will have the shuttle controlled by two solenoids in turn controlled by the electric switches on the control lever. If this is the set up then it might be possible to swap the solenoids over and in theory that will give continuous reverse. That would at least confirm that the transmission is fundamentally sound.

See the last post. Large multi connector could be a problem?
