JCB 801 Slewing Problem
JCB 801 Slewing Problem
I have an old JCB 801, which has developed a problem slewing. It would only slew to the right. I have taken the floor plate off (see pictures) and by increasing the rod length, can get it to slew to the left, but lose the ability to slew to the right! Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks, Terry

Re: JCB 801 Slewing Problem
I have looked at the linkage more closely & noticed that some of the pins are showing signs of wear. Not sure how to remove the linkages with least disruption to replace the pins, any thought? Many thanks, Terry

Re: JCB 801 Slewing Problem
I am not familiar with the machine but I guess it depends on whether or not the linkages has ball joint or jaw and clevis. A starting base might be a JCB agent to get an idea of prices then go from there to fiddling about if ridiculously expensive.
Re: JCB 801 Slewing Problem
They are clevis pin type (see picture). I have been told it would cost many hundreds to do the repair by an agent and as it is an old machine, not really that interested in taking on the work. I am happy to do the repair, but getting at the connections is proving difficult. Thanks, Terry

I understand. The parts are not too expensive, its getting them removed is the problem. You will see what I mean in the pictures. Thanks, Terry

I have mini diggers generally a pig to work on as everything wedged into a tight package. You might find that by unbolting a large component you might move it just enough without disconnecting everything. I moved a hydraulic and diesel tank on mine to get access to an engine mount but did not Disconnect pipes.
