Andy80 wrote:"try your machine again and see if you still have the problem?" I'm not sure which of my problems you are referring to. Is it the brake problems or the strange sound from the undercarriage?
I also feel the cylinder to the stick is a little slow. What can be the cause of this problem?

Andy that is not the panel I am talking about I have attached a photo of the bleed valve so that you can locate it, it is to the right of the machine at the back of the cab. If you bleed this it may cure the undercarriage knock but I cannot promise you that so give this a try before you go stripping bits of the undercarriage down.
The brake merely needs correctly adjusting; the dipper stick slowness could be down to the seals inside, I assume you mean the dipper arm cylinder? I will try and post more later.

Thanx again. With this clear photo i will not miss :) Yes i mean the dipper arm cylinder. If i got it right the dipper arm cylinder share hydralic pump with one of the track motors. Both track motors are working well so i guess the pump is okey.

Andy I have suggested the seals in the dipper arm cylinder are the issue as my machine has a similar problem that I have yet to solve; Tony Flint who was a Hymac trained apprentice suggested that the cylinder seals could be the problem with my machine.

I have had the pumps rebuilt on my machine so I know that they are now okay; if a machines pumps are worn then this will generally show up when the oil gets warm, the machine will become very slow and unresponsive.

Give your bleed valve a try and see if it cures the noisy undercarriage; my machine was also rather noisy and clunky on the undercarriage which made me wonder if there was some teeth off one of the gears in the gearbox but the machine tracks okay and the machine performed a lot better once the pumps had been done and the bleed valve bled correctly, I only get an occasional clunk now so like I say it's worth a try.

I seem to recall reading in the operations manual somewhere that you are supposed to open this bleed valve every-time that you use the machine; this would explain why many people don't bother to refit the panel behind the cab which covers the bleed valve, to be fair I have not bothered bleeding my valve every time I start the machine, but my machine is not going to be earning her keep.
The reason the machine has this bleed valve is that it is not a pressurized system like on the latter 580C model; best of luck let us know how you get on.

Thanx again for your help :) So it might be an internal leakage in the cylinder? Is the seals difficult to replace?
I will try to bleed the system next time a visit my parents where the machine is stationed.

I would add that it might be worth checking the final drive gear shafts for worn bearing , especially if there is water ingress or lack of oil. Collapsed bearing finished our old 580D.
Regarding the tracking noise are all the bushes in the links free? If the machine has stood in one place for a long time the bushes can sieze and cause some strange noises.

Thanx for comments :) The machine has been running from time to time by the last owner, i dont think it have been standing for long. I have tried to drive the machine with the tracks in the air, it than appears to run smoothly and no strange sounds could be heard. The sounds seems to come under load.

Time for an update. After Jeremys advice i gave the bleedvalve a try today. It took a couple of minutes before all the air had escaped, so i guess it was necessary!
I also mesured the level in the hydraulic tank to be 20 cm above the bottom of the tank. To low?
The strange sounds from the undercarriage did not escape. Next step was to relax the tracks to remove them.

With the track relaxed and some tractor assistance it was no problem removing the tracks.

With the undercarriage stripped i discovered that the inner bearing on the drive wheel was very worn.

I also discovered that the transmission chain was very stiff and hard to bend in some links. Maybe this is the cause of the strange sounds.
