Hello Guys,
I have owned an ex Manweb JCB 2D excavator for a few years and what a wonderful machine she is.
Unfortunately I lent it to my neighbour and whilst working the shaft from the hydraulic pump to the main crank pulley has failed taking the crank pulley with it and causing a leak on the hydraulic pump front seal. The hardie spicer at the pump end UJ seems to of given up and a small piece of the UJ casting has broken off as it fell to pieces.
I think I could probably fit a new hardie spicer, teh broken piece is small and at teh opersite end of teh ypoke to the circlip that holds teh spicer in, but I am unsure if I should replace the whole shaft to be safe?
If I can replace just the hardie spicer does anybody know what size, part number I would need or where I could buy one, nobody I have spoken to has any experience of the 2D?
If the whole shaft should be replaced does anybody know where I could get one or would one from another model machine fit, if so which model ?
Finally the leaky pump, is there a seal kit that I can purchase or would I be better taking it my local hydraulic specialist and let them strip it and fix it, last think I want is a pile of spring and seals when I take all the bolts out ?
Machine details from the plate are as follows:
JCB Machine Serial 2D 107979
Tractor Serial 384B 189418
Engine Serial 498NT/1792/20956
Advice here would be most helpful from anyone who has experienced this problem before, I have photos if needed.
Thanks in advance
JCB 2D

Re: JCB 2D
Have you downloaded the workshop manual ... that might give you some answers

Re: JCB 2D
Thanks Martyn I had already checked the manuals I had and the one linked doesn't help me any further, I really need someone with experience of the different machines who might know the differences between the models and the shaft configuration.
