Fred, the early 580's had a red bucket seat that was replaced by the red cushions similar (perhaps not an exact match) to what I have here, I think that perhaps the rear cushion was slightly rounded? I had these off Tony Flint who had several made for the machines that he reconditions, they are as near to what I could get without spending mega money, these cost me £45 each cushion.
While early 580C machines had similar seat cushions I think later ones had black cushion seats the 590C, 595, 596, 880C had black cushion seats from memory, I will have a look later and if there is any decent close up pics I'll post a few. :thumbup:

Perhaps not the best of photos but a picture taken from an early Hymac 580C advert you can just about make out the red cushion seat under the operators rear. :lol:

I went up to the digger today with a plan of work in mind most of which I did get accomplished :thumbup: first job up was to drill two more holes to secure the plate that the seat base is welded to, it had been my intention of doing this last time but alas I ran out of time. The throttle lever assembly was fitted back together again and fitted onto the seat base then adjusted; once that was done the seat rails were bolted to the seat base and the seat was finally fitted. I also fitted the stop cable but that's where disaster struck as the small clip that secures the cable sprung off into the abyss never to be seen again :x cross with myself over that; then to make matters worse the cable supplied is crud so I will try and get a better cable and ditch that one; a few pics of how the machine looks today, she is nowhere near how I would like her to look but I keep telling myself that every job done is one less to do. :)

You got very far on your way i think. She locks beautiful! Tell me is there any suspension in this old design of seats?

Hi Andy :wave: no mate the machines were so basic in those days even the cab heater was optional; the seat is simply two foam cushions fitted to an adjustable seat base that you could move backwards or forwards and adjust the height although that is also limited; still an improvement over the old cast iron saddle type seats fitted into some of the old cable machines. :thumbup:

Had the day off work today to go and get a bit more done on my 580BT to be fair the weather was too crap for any painting to be done, however I did manage to get the 'Peter Hamilton Equipment' badge fitted in the cab, got the engine stop cable fitted and working properly after my disaster when the clip sprung off and disappeared never to be seen again.
The stop cable was rectified by a home made bracket which works a treat :thumbup: I fitted the badge in the cab and got some fuel put in her ready for the working event which is very nearly upon us. For those going to the working event I would say that wellington boots are a must as I can't see the ground and mud drying up before the 25th and it is very muddy up there at the minute, mind the weather could turn colder in which case the ground would freeze.
I gave her a good run as I always do; I had wanted to do some last minute touching up before the working event but alas it was not meant to be.
