Thwaites Alldig 100

Post #1 by Phil150 » Sun Jun 28, 2015 8:21 am

:dizzy: Good morning, I have just joined the Classic machinery network as I saw some posts on Thwaites Alldig 100. I have an alldig 100 and yesterday the key snapped off in the ignition, yes I can hot wire it however I would like to either get the key out or obtain a new ignition switch, any ideas?
Also I would like to get hold of other buckets, I have a 18 inch or 450mm depeding on your age, I would really like a 1ft bucket for land drainage and a scraper/blade if they did them for this machine.
Any help/ideas gratefully received.

Phil

Welcome along.
I'm thinking the key/barrel is a standard Lucas one - key tag sort of egg shaped with Lucas stamped on it. If so it's a Lucas 35670 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tractor-Ignition-Switch-Key-4-Position-lucas-equivilent-style-off-on-heat-start-/111646047940?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item19fe9f7ec4
Or possibly 92274 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/thwaits-dumper-jc1-92274-Key-3-Position-ignition-Switch-/301645850227?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item463b7e6673

Check out a certain popular auction site.

You're welcome.
If it is the 35670 you may well want to take the opportunity to replace it with something less generic for security reasons.

Hi No security is not a worry where I live, I have fitted the new switch now and started the machine and have problems running it. I am not a mechanic so my descriptions may not be technically correct. After the machine has started it runs for say 20 to 30 minutes and then stops, if I quickly bleen the injector pump it carries on for a while then wants to stop again.
If I disconnct the hose to the pump and connect the pump to a fuel can it works fine after bleeding the injector pump so for some reason when the pump is lifting fuel from the tank through the filter it stops after a while. Does this make any sence to anyone. What does the fuel bleed pipe do? :dizzy:

First off change the filter(s). I'm not familiar with the layout on this machine but if the fuel line is on the bottom of the tank take the pipe off and fuel should run free, if it doesn't there is likely to be a gauze filter on the tank fitting that needs cleaning. If the fuel is drawn from the top of the tank then again remove the fitting and the gauze will be on the end of the lift pipe. If the gauze is blocked / restricted it may be worth an hour to take the tank off and give it a good swill out.
If there's no issues there then start looking at the pipe from the tank to the pump as it could have a pinhole in it and be drawing air.
By bleed pipe I guess you mean leak off pipe which just puts excess fuel from the injector back into the system.
Let us know how you get on... Photos are always good!
Rob.

Hi Phil, Paul here in York, UK. Phil, I too am moving to France this January (2016). I have just put my all dig 4x4 up for sale, but saw your post. You have your machine in France right now and I had given up on being able to take mine, I am very reluctant to sell. How did you get your machine over? We are moving to Brantome. Did you move it yourself or use a haulier?. I would be really interested to know costs etc if you are happy to share the info.

Thank you.

Paul.
