i have a jcb3c that wont start, when i turn the key there should be a light above it that comes on when the key is turned.there is power in the battery but this light doesnt come on and the starter wont engage.could it have anything to do with the engine stop or is there a fuse that may have blown??

any help would be greatly appreiated

I am not familiar with what lights are where, but I would expect if you have only ever seen one light, it would be the charing light. If there were no other issues (ie it started) I'd say the light is probably blown. Typically the alternator light is actually part of the charing circuit.

However the fact it doesn't start would indicate you have a switch problem (no power is being connected) or some issue in the wiring loom between the dash and the battery.

Rob welcome to CMN  I would start with the simple things; check that the battery cables are a good tight fit on the terminals, then check the fuses (sadly I cannot tell you where they are located on a3C) also check the terminals to the starter itself.
