Hey Guys,
Ive just been told that tomorrow ill be doing a drain run thats 4 and a half metres deep, Ive done drainage previously and there hasnt been any problems but theyve only really been round about a metre deep. Im kind of apprhensive about using a box for box for the first time too.
Im just wondering if any of you more experienced guys have any tips/advice for me.

Just do every thing carefully, follow the pipe layers instructions and banksman, watch the ground, keep muck away from trench as far as you can,and dont be afraid to ask advise.

Good advice Martyn,
I Always like to shelve the sides of the trench so the guys have somewhere safe to stand at the top of the box
Just my 2 pence worth

Cheers guys, There wont be any worry about keeping muck away from the trench walls as its being loaded straight into dumpers and hauled to the top of the site. Ill try and get some photo's to post on here.

Re: Tips or tricks needed please?
Well today i started the drains and all i can say is that it is the best experience i have had on a machine.
Not got it to the full depth yet as the groundworkers kept fart arsing around havin me take the box in and out (3 times). Been trying to locate services and other pipes that run in the way of where im digging. Will post 3 pictures that i took on here later.

Glad you got on good today, i used to enjoy deep drainage, can be a bit boring at times, but it does get the old grey matter working.. thank you for letting us all know how you got on..look forward to seeing your pics.

Re: Tips or tricks needed please?
Ok heres the pictures.
As you can see theres some services that we have to dig around but we've got a 6 tonne kubota sat idle so we used that to expose them first. The pics dont show it at full depth as we have an old active 300mm storm drain at about 3 metres down. Im going to get some pics of it tomorrow when its at full depth. The services are, 3000v HV cable near the machines tracks, ntl cable in the green ducting, small electric and a BT cable.
The machine im on, Not my 315CL this ones much much nicer!
