I remeber as a kid in the 1980's I saw a few red Poclains and many Case Poclain machines are still on farms. Im fascinated by Poclains many inventions they had in all feilds. Hydraulic, logging, and grab building.

Spotted a 60 (I think) on a farm near me. It hasn't moved in months, and sadly is too far from the road to get anything other than a photo of the back end.
Kimbell Construction of Northampton used to run a number of Poclain Rubber Ducks, (and Akerman tracked machines) all of which were painted in Kimbell's blue livery. Spent many hours as a child watching 2 of the Poclains (SNV 78 W and AVV 159 S - anyone who understands registration plates will work out the era!) working in the town centre laying new sewers. Unfortunately no photo's.
One memorable moment, the driver had left the boom up in the air, with machine switched off, and gone for tea. One of the senior members of staff (shirt and tie) got into the cab. His weight was sufficient to unbalance the machine which then began to slew under gravity, until the bucket linkage came to rest against the wall of a shop, narrowly missing the plate gless windows and shoppers heads! Luckily no damage other than a scrape to the brickwork of the shop.

Great thread guy's - here are some pics of my Case 488 poclain. I am slowly fixing things and getting the old girl better and better. I bought this for my house build due to having over 2000 square m plot that is quite contoured i needed a decent size of machine to cope. Hope you like - she looks slightly different now with writing all repainted (by hand) and cleaned up. I am also working on the cab to re-insulate and smarten things up a bit, plus fixing some electrics.
